Formerra, Chase announce new distribution deals

Resin distributors Formerra LLC and Chase Plastic Services Inc. have expanded their line cards.

Formerra of Romeoville, Ill., will distribute bioplastic materials for Danimer Scientific. Nodax-brand polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) resins made by Bainbridge, Ga.-based Danimer are used in cups, straws, lids, food containers, and other single-use items.

Nodax PHA is made from plant oils using a natural fermentation process. The material is biodegradable in both soil and marine environments.

"Now, more than ever, sustainability is at the center of Formerra's core values," marketing director Karen Heroldt said in a news release. "We're looking forward to providing sustainable options for our customers and helping them shift to sustainable solutions in their manufacturing processes."

Danimer CEO Steve Croskrey added that his firm "shares Formerra's commitment to increasing availability of sustainable options for customers and consumers which can help turn the tide of plastic pollution."
