Disclosed is a method of forming a bioplastic material. The method comprises providing a mixture comprising a keratinaceous substrate, and a secondary biopolymer substrate that includes one or more of an amine, hydroxyl and carboxyl group. The method also comprises 5 crosslinking the keratinaceous substrate and the secondary biopolymer substrate to form the bioplastic material. A crosslinking agent may be used.
